I opened the SN Learning Studio in 2021 when my casual tutoring business needed room to grow.
Tutoring is such a powerful tool and I wanted to serve as many students as possible.
My number 1 goal is to build confidence by teaching students in a way that works for them and by showing them that math can be FUN!
Since then, my client list has grown tremendously and I am creating new ways to make learning math more accessible to all.
This is how the online Math Foundations course was born.

What my current clients are saying about Math Foundations:
"I signed up my 2 girls at the end of grade 4 for Sarah’s online math course. One of my girls was lacking confidence in her math and we found she would avoid doing any math at all... This method really worked well for both girls but especially my math resistant child. She slowly started showing interest in the topics and homework and the instant feedback from the math practice exercises reinforced that she was doing it correctly which encouraged her to keep going. We will certainly continue this course over the summer before they start middle school to continue building healthy math habits."
***
"Sarah is a really special teacher who really has a knack for dissecting math concepts into easy-to-understand ways. The videos in the math program are short and sweet, and the online games are challenging and fun for the kids, but also expands their knowledge."

"I have nothing but great things to say about The Math Foundations Online Course! My son was rolling into summer between Grade 4 and 5. He was doing well in school but I felt like he needed more…. More of an understanding and challenge! This course offered both. The self paced nature of this course made it so my son was able to pick away over the run of the summer months keeping his skills fresh! My favourite part was actually his ability to follow along at his teacher's pace throughout the Grade 5 year with the addition of Sarah’s lectures and worksheets. The IXL math app has also become a big part of our weekly math homework!"
Math Foundations FAQs
How can I support my child as they work on this course?
The best way to support your child is to set up a dedicated time and space for them to work on the course on a consistent basis. It's a good idea to watch the Course Overview video with them at the very beginning of the course, but beyond that, your child should be able to navigate the course quite independently. At the end of each lesson, there will be practice activities on IXL and sometimes there are games. This is a great opportunity for you to play math with your child! You might also want to go over the answer key with them after they complete the Activity Page for each lesson to make sure that they understood the topic.
When will we receive the binder?
One of the unique features of this course is that it comes with a ready-to-go binder! This binder is essential to get the most out of the Math Foundations course. Once you purchase the course, your binder will be ready to pick up or mail out within 24 hours. If you are in the Moncton area, a pick up or drop off time will be arranged. If you are not local, your binder will be mailed out via Canada Post flat rate box within 24 hrs of you purchasing the course.
How long will I have access to the course for?
Right now, your purchase will grant you lifetime access to the course! This includes all future updates and additions. This course will be moving to a membership model in the fall, so those who wait to purchase then will not have the same opportunity for lifetime access as you do by purchasing today. The only part of the course that is for a limited time is the IXL membership. This membership is for 1 year only but you do have the option to renew this membership each year if you wish.
What is IXL?
IXL is an online platform (also a free app) that allows students to practice specific skills. In my opinion, IXL is the best and most comprehensive tool for practicing math online. It gives instant feedback and also allows me to track how students are doing and what topics they may need extra support with. When you purchase the Math Foundations course, I will add your child to my IXL classroom roster and I will provide you with their login information.
What if my child needs extra help with a specific topic?
It's normal for there to be little hurdles along the learning path! An easy thing to do would be to try rewatching the video lesson to see if that helps. Also, IXL has little instructional videos built into most of their units - these could be helpful too. If your child needs some extra, 1-on-1 support, you do have the option to purchase 30 or 60 minutes of private tutoring as needed. Instructions for setting this up are provided in the introduction unit of the course.
